Last year I had the privilege of scanning and restoring around 70 photographic prints from Tony’s art exhibits from 1999 and 2000. There are many wonderful prints in this collection. Here are a dozen of my personal favorites. He was not only a masterful mime but a talented and unique visual artist as well!

The Portland Public Library is proud to present From Mime to Monotypes & Oils, an exhibit of works by Tony Montanaro in the Lewis Gallery from January 4-29, 2000 with an opening reception on Thursday, January 6th from 5-8 pm in the Gallery.
Portland resident Tony Montanaro is a true Renaissance man. He studied mime under Marcel Marceau in Paris in the 1950’s; he’s written for American and Italian television; acted in both the theatre and in major motion pictures and has taught and directed his first love – mime.
